ABOUT

EMMA

Emma Rekers (Amsterdam, 1983) is an artistic leader, conductor, coach and educator. Born and raised in Amsterdam, Emma enjoyed her musical and dancing education at the National Children's Choir and theatergroup Don't Hit Mama. She pursued her professional training at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, with teacher in music and singing as her major. She graduated in 2008.

During her job as music teacher at The Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Emma specialised as a workshop leader based on the concepts of Collaborative Creative Practice and Creative Music Making.


Using composition and improvisation techniques, and working without scores, Emma challenges people to create music from within. Her coaching ranges from individuals to large scale audiences.


Emma works as a freelance conductor, advisor, coach, workshopleader, teacher and initiator for a.o. Nationale Opera & Ballet, Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Musica and several other orchestras.
